Accepting of Foreign Students for Study in the Czech Republic within the Framework of the Development Assistance Programme

Within the framework of foreign development co-operation, the Czech Republic offers scholarships to foreigners for the standard duration of study in accredited higher education study programmes held at public institutions of higher education and for Czech language courses and special training.

Scholarships are granted for the standard duration of study in Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral study programmes in Czech that are preceded by a one-year Czech language course and special training, and for study in follow-up Master's and Doctoral study programmes in English.

Government scholarships for study at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic are provided on the basis of the decree of the Czech Government in the joint project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (www.msmt.cz) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (www.mzv.cz). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs annually notifies about the offer of government scholarships via the Embassies of the Czech Republic (ECR). The scholarships can be applied for by foreigners without Czech permanent residence who are nationals of a state receiving foreign development assistance from the Czech Republic and who meet the conditions set in the Instructions Regarding the Scholarship Award Scheme of the Government of the Czech Republic.

Application forms can be submitted via the relevant ECR. Deadlines are set by the relevant ECR in such a way as to ensure that the application forms and necessary documents are available to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports by 31 December at the latest.

Students who, at the time of application, stay in the Czech Republic may submit the respective documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for Development Co-operation, by 20 December of the preceding year at the latest.
